I made J a landmark matching game and a fabric map to use with the landmark pieces in the future. When J is older she can match the landmarks to the correct country. It was fairly simple.
I bought the Safari Ltd.® Around the World Toob® at Jo-Ann and used a half off coupon. It cost about $4.00. It includes:
- Parthenon
- Leaning Tower of Pisa
- Eiffel Tower
- Statue of Liberty
- Arch of Triumph
- Temple of the Inscriptions
- Empire State Building
- Taj Mahal
- Big Ben
- Pyramids of Giza (Giza Necropolis)
Then I found photos of the above landmarks online and dropped them into Pages (but you can use whatever program you are used to working with) and added their names and locations beneath the photos. I resized them all to be about the same size. You can add as much information as you want for each landmark. I left plenty of space around each photo and the text then printed everything out using 8 1/2″ by 11″ photo paper so I could fit a few on each page. Then I cut everything out.
I ran them through a laminator so they would last longer.
The fabric world map panel is also from Jo-Ann. Once again I used a coupon and only spent about $4.00. I rolled the edges and machine stitched all the way around it. You could also just go around the edges with pinking shears or sew a back panel onto it.
We are using a cotton bag with a velcro closure that some sheets came in to store it in.
That’s it! I’m sure as J gets older I will find plenty more uses for the landmarks and the fabric map. If you have any ideas, please share!

I love it!!!! I’m going to make one, too!
Thanks!
I will try to add one more landmark. Will send you a small edition of the statue of Christ the Redeemer located in Rio de Janeiro with a picture of it.

That would be fantastic! Thanks!
I love this. Brilliant.
Thanks!
And people wonder why J is so smart!
She plays around a lot but she loves to do these types of activities. She also loves to clean up which is a bonus!
I LOVE this game! So fun and creative. There are so many places to learn about and explore in our beautiful world!
Thank you! I’m going to start collecting little souvenirs when we travel so I can add more landmarks.
